THE CHALLENGE
Building a logo and brand from scratch, based on the wordplay of the business name.
THE CONCEPT
Although I wanted to nod to the wordplay of deep sea, it was important to keep the logo professional and clean, not leaning too heavily into the concept for the typography alone. Initial moodboard feedback helped direct towards deep blues and a strong typographical logo style.
By using the subtle wave symbol to connect to two ‘E’s’, it allowed us to then use this iconography across the whole branding (i.e. social media highlights)
Where we could really be playful—reflecting Danielle’s personality and approachability—is in the imagery, adding water-themed backgrounds to showcase this crisp, high-contrast logo. Even through mock-ups, the element of water (e.g. featuring the glass with the business card) continues this element.
After trialling serif-only word marks in concept stages, the combination of both a serif and a script font in the final logo adds dimension and looks timeless.
